Access and Disability Advice
The Role of BCP’s Access Surveyor
BCP’s Access Surveyor undertakes the following tasks:
- Assessing and commenting on all planning applications submitted to the Authorities when requested to do so, in respect of Physical Building design and potential issues on achieving compliance with Building Regulations.
- Liaising with local voluntary groups who represent disabled people in relation to Building’s Accessibility and use
- Co-ordinating access audits on Council buildings, pedestrian areas and making recommendations for improvements
- Co-ordinating and facilitating with any issues to ensure an Equitable and accessible built environment
- Liaising with various Council services such as Highways to ensure an Equitable and accessible Built Environment within the BCP area
- Advising and facilitating businesses on how they can make their services more accessible
BCP’s Access Surveyor will try and undertake the following:
Promote compliant physical Access to Council Properties
Promote Access to the Wider Community
Advise and liaise on Access Enquiries
Provide Disability Advice & Training where able to do so, or facilitate suitable links to specialists
Advise on The Equality Act 2010 Legislation,
Advise on Government Building Regulations and Associated referenced guides
Advise and liaise with Suitable Fire Fighting Bodies on Buildings Emergency egress
Advise and promote good Building Guides to facilitate improving the Built environment
Work closely with Local Access Groups to obtain opinion and advice as well as feedback on the Local and National built environment
